Catalog
What it is
A module for creating and publishing catalog cards, products, offers or structured items related to the customer's business.
Each published card becomes a public page of the site, with texts, images, specifications and attachments.
It is part of the Digital growth category because it can generate new public pages.
When it is visible
It is visible when the customer has a catalog or a collection of items to publish and update.
The Catalog section appears when the module is enabled on the instance. Access depends on the user's role and permissions.
Main sectors
- Enterprise
- Businesses with a product or service catalog
- Future dedicated configurations
Dependencies
Can be linked to:
The catalog card
Each item is a card with:
- General information: name, slug, subtitle, category, display order.
- Specifications: materials, origin, price, year, orientation, dimensions, exhibition dates, location, tools, processes, credits.
- Description: editorial text.
- Attachments: documents and PDF cards.
- Relations: related articles and featured works.
- Main images (up to 10) and Gallery (up to 20), with title and description per image.
Creating an item
- Open Catalog.
- Select the create button: the New item dialog opens.
- Enter the Item name; the slug is generated from the name.
- Confirm: the card is created as a draft and immediately opens for details.
- Complete specifications, description, images and attachments.
- Save and then publish.
Categories and order
The Category is chosen from a list of values configured for the catalog. From the editor you can manage the values: per-language labels, order and visibility.
Order (in the advanced options of the general information) defines the display sequence: the list and the site start from this value. Use low numbers for featured items.
Featured works and Related articles are ordered lists of published items linked to the card; the site respects the order chosen in administration.
Images and attachments
- Main images and Gallery: upload, reorder and add title and description per image.
- Attachments: upload documents from the card (for example the product's PDF card) and reorder them.
- The Publicly visible toggle makes attachments downloadable from the site. While disabled, files remain visible only in administration.
- Links to attachments downloaded from the site use the uploaded file's name.
- In the list, the Needs fixing filter flags items with incompatible media, to fix.
Draft and publishing
Each item can be in Draft or Published.
- Save does not publish: on an already-published item, saving returns it to draft until you press Publish.
- The Visibility on Site toggle acts immediately on the saved state: Visible publishes, Hidden removes the item from the site (with confirmation). Unsaved changes stay in the form and are not published.
- Only published items are read by the site's public pages: drafts and hidden items do not appear. The public page is reached via the item's slug.
Link with Communication
From Communication > Messages > Editor > From item you can compose a message starting from a catalog item and import its title, text, images and button.
Best practices
- Fill in the general information and category first, then the details.
- Prepare quality images and check their order: the first image of the gallery is used as the cover in public lists.
- Check the order of featured and related items before publishing.
- Verify that attachments intended for the public have the Publicly visible toggle enabled.
- After each change to an online item, republish to bring it back to the site.
